Melinda Brown, who writes under the name M. Brown, is the author of Peacekeeper, her debut sci-fi novel released in July 2025.
After humanity’s first exoplanet colony mysteriously fails, the Peacekeepers are tasked with leading a second attempt on al-Sufi C, home to the new Bakht Colony. But the settlers face threats from both the planet’s wildlife and the Hlinan, a reptilian race that sees humans as a religious curse. Commander Krysta Evreux, also known as “Lone Wolf,” must protect the colony, uncover hidden dangers, and decide whether an alliance with the Hlinan is possible before it’s too late.

In this Verse & Voices event, we sat down with Melinda Brown and entered the world of science fiction. Guests enjoyed a live interview with Melinda about her writing journey, followed by an audience Q&A. The audience was then able to hear a section of Peacekeeper by Melinda herself! The event wrapped up with a meet & greet and book signing. Overall, it was a fun social gathering where readers met new friends, networked with the author and each other, shared their love of books, and came together to celebrate Melinda's success.
